Why it fails, and why we are not bound by it

Two projected-light units in overlapping fields read each other’s patterns as noise, and pushing power to beat ambient light runs straight into laser safety limits near people. Each FMCW unit has its own chirp, and only returns matching its own local oscillator produce a valid beat — the same reason multiple radars coexist. Gain comes from mixing rather than from emitted power, so the power budget stays modest.
