What makes it hard
Painted pottery carries glazed reflective areas and matte clay side by side, and the pigments themselves differ in reflectance. For structured light that means over- and under-exposed regions within one frame.
Heritage work also demands color fidelity — geometry that is right with color that is off helps neither research nor display. That requires depth and color to be strictly aligned.
What we measured
1,787,235 raw points covering the whole figurine. Facial detail, the hands, the fall of the robe, and the color transition between glazed and matte areas all come from a single pass.
