What makes it hard
Biological tissue is translucent to visible light. Light enters the surface layer, scatters many times, and returns from a point near the surface. For 3D vision that assumes light reflects off the surface, the depth decision is ambiguous by nature. Is this the surface, or a point a few millimeters below it?
What we measured
1,184,017 raw points. The surface texture, the boundary between fat and muscle, and the layers of the cut face are all distinguishable.
